POL 357 - Globalization & Polit. Change
This course unpacks the complex nexus between globalization, nation-states, borders, and citizenship in the 21st Century. The first section focuses on the conceptualization of globalization, its manifold causes in addition to its complex interactions with state sovereignty, social and communication networks, the politics of space, and citizenship. The second section of the course provides an in-depth analysis of key political, cultural and economic challenges that globalization has brought about. We focus on topics such as global governance and international organizations, economic inequality and free trade, the international governance of migration and borders, internet governance, ecological justice and climate change. Prerequisite: POL201 Introduction to Political Science Co requisite: ENG 101
