POL 336 - Politics in the Global South
This course provides an introduction to the politics of the Global South. It addresses many of the key themes and dynamics that have shaped socioeconomic and political developments in Africa, Asia and Latin America. These include the legacies of colonialism, the achievement of independence, challenges of state building and regime consolidation, economic policy choices, the politics of class, ethnicity and gender, revolutions, the role of the military, and democratization. Prerequisite: POL201 Corequisite: ENG101
