PHL 323 - Philosophy of History |
This course focuses on how we should understand history in general, as well as specific histories, in particular the history of philosophy. Typically the course takes Hegel’s work as its departure point, but other variations are possible. These variations include Marx’s materialist critique of Hegelian philosophy, Nietzsche and Foucault’s method of Genealogy, as well as the pragmatist understanding of history, amongst others. [3-0, 3 cr.]
