Integrates the biopharmaceutical and physical pharmaceutical properties of drug substances that influence in vivo drug absorption, such as salt selection, particle size optimization, solid state properties and polymorph formation, determining the development of stable, bioavailable and safely manufactured dosage forms. Integration of pharmaceutic, biopharmaceutic, and bioequivalence concepts into the design and manufacture of advanced formulations and complex dosage forms provides students with basic and advanced information concerning formulation, design, manufacture, and analysis of pharmaceutical dosage forms. A brief discussion of business aspects is included, since cost drives the latter. [3-0, 3 cr.]
