CSC 412 - Introduction to Bioinformatics
This course provides an introduction to modern computational practices in bioinformatics. Topics include computational methods for: fragment assembly; sequence alignment; modeling evolution; gene finding; gene expression; protein structure and function.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1) Use online databases to search for genes and proteins using different annotations.
2) Perform sequence similarity and homology search to identify similar genes and proteins
3) Annotate nucleotide sequence and predict genes
4) Perform sequence alignment, clustering and phylogeny analysis
5) Explore protein 3D structures
6) Use the R statistical package
